In the UCC, we once were so anxious around the term “evangelism” we used to call it the “E” word. Now we recognize that we need to learn how to integrate church growth principals into the life of our church in order for our church to have a life in the future.

In this workshop you will learn: (1) some of the basic principals of church growth; (2) why you cannot simply clone what another church is doing and be successful, and what needs to take place instead; (3) practical resources to help you educate your congregation and develop a church growth approach; (4) some common overlooked mistakes to church growth; and (5) some approaches to make use of during the upcoming Lenten season to build a growing foundation.

The presenter is the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Motz, who is currently the designated-term pastor of First UCC in Hamburg, called here to help develop mission outreach and church growth.

The workshop will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at First UCC in Hamburg. There is no fee to participate in this workshop. The workshop is open to both lay and clergy.

Parking: The church’s parking lot is located on 3rd Street (next to the church building); you may also park on the Pine Street Fulton Bank parking lot; and there is ample on street parking in the
neighborhood, as well. We invite you to use the wheelchair ramp entrance off of the church’s parking lot, as the most accessible entrance.
