SUMMARY:Clergy Convocation 2026
DESCRIPTION:“That they may all be one” John 17:21 \nRed Lion Hotel\, Hershey/Harrisburg\n4751 Lindle Rd.\, Harrisburg\, PA 17111 \nFull attendance qualifies for: 10 Contact Hours (Wed. only attendance qualifies for 5.5 hrs.) \nGuest Speaker: Dr. Shirley Mullen \nShirley Mullen\, PhD served as the president of Houghton College for 15 years. She spent four decades in the work of faith-based liberal arts education as a professor\, residential life director\, chief academic officer\, and president. Dr. Mullen wrote the 2024 book Claiming the Courageous Middle: Daring to Live and Work Together for a More Hopeful Future\, published by Baker Academic. In that text she sets out an argument for how to step into the courageous place of “the middle” – her phrasing for “Catching a Vision for a Third Way of Being in the World” (Chapter 1). She focuses on the challenges of finding a third or middle way in the midst of today’s culture wars and pays careful attention to how to do this faithfully\, reflecting often on her own Wesleyan background. Dr. Mullen is very excited to join us and engage in complex\, challenging\, and important conversations about finding our way forward in these days. We hope to see you there! \nConvocation Schedule 2026

SUMMARY:Reaffirmation of Ordination Vows
DESCRIPTION:We will host a Service of the Reaffirmation of Ordination Vows for ordained clergy. \nIt’s a long-standing custom in liturgical traditions for clergy to gather during Holy Week when Jesus offered “a new commandment”– to love and serve one another– for the reaffirmation of their ordination. We hope this will be an experience of spiritual encouragement and connection. \nClergy are encouraged to wear a stole received at their ordination\, a red stole\, or any other stole that has significant meaning. The service includes the sacrament of virtual communion so please prepare in advance. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Politics and Preaching: Faithful Application or Misuse of the Pulpit?
DESCRIPTION:Join Rev. Dr. Carrie Call on Zoom for a discussion of “Politics and Preaching: Faithful Application or Misuse of the Pulpit?” The title is intentionally dichotomizing to reflect how so many things feel these days – there seems to be one answer only\, with very little nuance. I want to get away from that and introduce some complexity as we explore how the pulpit has been used for political purposes over the years and wrestle with when that is appropriate\, if ever. \nClick here to register.
