SUMMARY:Men's Keystone Clergy Retreat - "Men and Forgiveness"
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW!\nClergymen from all over the Keystone Conference are invited to the 2026 Men’s Clergy Retreat\, October 6 – 8\, 2026. Rev. Scott Hutchinson from The Forgiveness Lab will be leading us on the topic of “Men and Forgiveness”. \nThe gospel of Jesus Christ lays claim to our lives like nothing else. Throughout his ministry\, Jesus recognizes people\, honors people\, unburdens people\, and frees God’s children from every form of bondage\, confronting injustice with love and death with life.  Jesus re-members our life stories in ways that redefine each person’s sense of identity and purpose.  He identifies and calls forth new strengths and capacities from within us. The forgiveness of God in Jesus Christ invites us to share his life deeply and be infused with a power much greater than all the might and blustering control proclaimed in these times of ours.  We learn his way by heart and are blessed to carry it into the world. Join us on this retreat\, where we will crack open remarkable gospel narratives\, meeting them with the authenticity of our own stories and the fullness of ourselves! \nThe event starts with registration at 3PM on Tuesday\, October 6th and ends at noon on Thursday\, October 8th. The retreat will take place at Hartman Center\, 5725 Old US Highway 322\, Milroy\, PA 17036.\nParticipants are encouraged to bring snacks\, beverages\, and anything else they would like for informal gatherings in the evenings. SUMMARY:Afro-Christian Convention: The Fifth Stream of the United Church of Christ
DESCRIPTION:General Synod in 2023 recognized a fifth stream of historical significance for the United Church of Christ. Here in Keystone\, most of our congregations were nurtured in the Reformed stream. However\, we do have a few from the other prevalent streams: Congregational\, Christian\, and Evangelical. This fifth stream was historically grouped with the (white) Christian stream\, but there is much that distinguished them as a separate entity in our founding. At that Synod\, then General Minister and President\, Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer\, offered an official apology stating there were “always five” and shared his “grief that this fifth tradition had been willfully subjugated” for so long. \nRev. Dr. Nora Foust is planning a continuing education event on October 15th\, open to lay and clergy\, to continue the conversation started at Synod and with the publication of “Afro-Christian Convention: The Fifth Stream of the United Church of Christ” that same year. In this time of learning together\, we will explore the Afro-Christian Convention and refresh existing knowledge around the Christian\, Congregational\, Evangelical\, and Reformed traditions also present at our founding. \n“Afro-Christian Convention: The Fifth Stream of the United Church of Christ” is available from Pilgrim Press\, Amazon\, and your favorite local bookseller. This continuing education event is being offered with no fee in hopes that you will purchase\, and read\, the book ahead of our session for which we do ask that you register. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Enkei: Healthy Conflict for Strong Churches
DESCRIPTION:Church leaders often say they want to find a way to avoid conflict. The reality is that conflict is what allows us to grow. What we really need is a way to engage in healthy conflict that invites churches to respond to the polycrisis in our world today. The Healthy Conflict for Strong Churches workshop looks at the anxiety our systems are facing\, invites curiosity as to what that anxiety might be stirring for us\, and offers healthy conflict practices that can further our mission and ministry. \nThis workshop will focus on embodied practices\, tools and resources that church leaders may use to create strong teams that can not only address conflict in their leadership body in a healthy way but then use that conflict to engage the change and transformation that is desperately needed a time such as this. \nThe workshop will be offered October 20\, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pacific Time (Noon – 3:00PM Eastern) via Zoom. Cost is $50/person and a reduced rate of $25/person is offered for churches sending three or more people. Learn more. Click HERE for the registration page. If you plan to register three or more from the same church\, email me for a special registration link.
