SUMMARY:UCC Education: PPRC To PSC
DESCRIPTION:This training offered by the national setting of the UCC for Local Church Pastors & Lay Leaders. \nNot your Predecessors PPRC! Pastor/Parish Relations Committees have provided essential leadership in the life of a congregation. And the name has led to some confusion about the focus of their role. Come to this workshop as we explore what it means to become a Pastoral Support Committee – what it is and what it is not. We’ll be talking through and naming the priorities and commitments of a well-functioning PSC. Rev. Tara Barber will share best practices from around the church and be prepared to answer your questions. Open to pastors\, lay leaders\, and judicatory staff. \nRegister by clicking here.

SUMMARY:Ecclesiastical Council for Stephanie Oelrich; Privilege of Call vote for Devin Jeffers
DESCRIPTION:The format for that day will be this:  Registration starts at 2:30. Faith UCC will have light refreshments for us before the Ecclesiastical Council starts.  We will start promptly at 3:00. \n3:00 – 3:45 PM – Stephanie Oelrich will be coming to us on Zoom.  She will summarize her paper and field questions and comments about her paper and her call to ordained ministry. We will vote on whether Stephanie should be ordained.  We don’t have to specify “pending a call” because Stephanie already has a call as a hospital chaplain.  The vote will then be announced.  If the vote is positive\, Stephanie will share with us her plans for her later in-person ordination in York. \n3:45 – 4:00 PM – Break (for the restroom and to stretch our legs) \n4:00 – 4:45 PM – Devin Jeffers will summarize his paper and field questions and comments about his paper and his call to ministry. We will vote on whether Devin should be granted ordained standing in the United Church of Christ through Privilege of Call\, pending a call.  The vote will then be announced.  Devin has already been circulating his profile to congregations as a person “seeking Privilege of Call.” \n4:45 – 5:00 PM – Closing Celebration for our candidates and Benediction

SUMMARY:Lay Person Training for Care Visitation and Home Communion
DESCRIPTION:Led by Rev. Dr. Ronnette Comfort-Butler \nJoin us for a practical and engaging 90-minute webinar designed to equip lay leaders for one of the church’s most meaningful ministries of care: visiting those in institutions and homes and extending the sacrament of Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend worship. Together\, we will explore the pastoral foundations and practical skills needed for compassionate institutional and home visitation\, including how to prepare for a visit\, listen with care\, offer prayer and spiritual encouragement\, and navigate sensitive situations with confidence. Special attention will be given to the sacred responsibility of home communion—helping lay leaders approach this ministry with reverence\, faithfulness\, and a deeper understanding of its connection to the gathered worshiping community. Whether you are new to this ministry or seeking to strengthen your skills\, this webinar will provide encouragement\, practical guidance\, and meaningful resources for serving others with Christ-centered care. \nClick here to register.
