Compass is a lifelong learning (non-credit) educational program of the Moravian University School of Theology. Compass (formerly the Pennsylvania Academy of Ministry) is a recognized Regional Theological Education Program within the United Church of Christ.

The Compass “Certificate in Ministry and Leadership Formation” consists of 17 six-week classes and is one of the multiple pathways of theological education for persons preparing for ministry authorized by the UCC as well as other denominations. Each class is aligned with the UCC Marks of Faithful and Effective Ministry and integrates a Moravian ethos of humble, relational theology, welcoming diverse leaders preparing for varied ministry contexts.
Each online class is 6 weeks long and requires about 5 hours per week of engagement, split between independent work (readings and assignments), asynchronous participation via Canvas (learning management system), and synchronous time via Zoom (1.5 hours each week). Each class offers 3 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for those seeking professional development credit.
Classes are offered year-round. For program details and a current schedule, see the free Online Orientation at https://learn.moravian.edu/browse/compass/
UCC MIDs may apply for an annual scholarship by March 1 of each year through the Brown Endowment, a program of the UCC’s United Church Funds. Funding is often enough to cover all tuition and expenses for twelve months.
