Located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Colonial Park United Church of Christ (CPUCC) is an Open and Affirming Congregation of the Keystone Conference. Serving the Harrisburg Community since 1783, CPUCC exists to listen, to love, and to restore hope and community to all God’s children.

Position Overview

CPUCC is seeking a full-time Director of Music and Resident Organist and Pianist (one position) who will bring both expertise and imagination to an established music program and help shape its continued growth. Music has long held an important position in our worship and church life. We have an extensive choral library of more than 750 anthems for choir and handbells. Our worship is enhanced by fine instruments, including: a 27-rank, three-manual Moller pipe organ, a 7-foot Steinway grand piano in the sanctuary (as well as two other Steinway grands and one Baldwin grand in other rooms of the Church), five octaves of Malmark Handbells, three octaves of hand chimes, a set of color- coded children’s bells, and numerous percussion instruments.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished musician, teacher, and collaborator who can bring artistry and preparation to worship, while working with volunteers and people with varied musical experience. CPUCC values a wide range of musical traditions that result in a strong music program that can support worship, community, reflection, and engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Church’s resident organist and pianist for worship services, and be the rehearsal and performance director and accompanist for the sanctuary choir, handbell choir, and children’s vocal or handbell choirs, based on the availability of participants.
• Plan and order all music used in worship services.
• Oversee the purchase and subsequent tuning and maintenance of all music related equipment located on the Church premises, including but not limited to pianos and any installed humidity devices, the pipe organ, handbells, percussion instruments, and sound equipment.
• Schedule the rehearsals and participation of the choirs and different ensembles in worship.
• Encourage musicians to attend workshops and other educational events.
• Maintain accurate records and reporting of music usage for copyright licensing (e.g., OneLicense, CCLI).
• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in shaping liturgy for Sunday morning and special services.
• Attend Church staff meetings.
• Submit an annual request for budget allocations to the Worship Deacon.
• Obtain and maintain Pennsylvania Act 153 clearances (PA Child Abuse History, PA state Police Criminal Record, and FBI fingerprinting) prior to beginning work with children’s or youth ensembles, and adhere to CPUCC’s Safe Sanctuary Policy.
• Assume other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor or Church Council, in consultation with the incumbent.

Qualifications

Degree in music, sacred music, or a related field preferred; demonstrated proficiency as an organist and pianist; experience directing choral ensembles; experience directing handbell and children’s choirs preferred, but not required; working knowledge of both traditional and contemporary sacred music; familiarity with the lectionary and the flow of the Christian year; and ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, and volunteers. Be able to climb stairs to access the organ loft.

Terms of position

• Fulfill six-month probationary period.
• Work 40 hours per week (Sunday through Thursday) full-time.
• Receive compensation as follows:
  • Salary: $50,000, annually (paid 15^th and 30^th of each month)
  • Health insurance up to $6,000
  • Social Security benefit
  • Continuing education funds available.
  • Contribution of 6% of current salary to the Lay Workers Annuity Fund after two years of employment at CPUCC.
• Receive vacation according to the following:
  • No vacation days during the first 90 days of employment
  • No vacation days during Holy Week, Christmas week, or specia events
  • 0-5 years: Two weeks per year
  • 6-10 years: Three weeks per year
  • 11-19 years: Four weeks per year
• Complete weekly timesheet.

INTRODUCTION:

Trinity UCC, an Open and Affirming Congregation in Waynesboro, AP seeks a Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator manages the day-to-day communications of the church, ensuring that information is shared clearly, consistently, and in a way that supports the mission and ministries of Trinity UCC. This position coordinates congregation-wide email communications, worship slides and announcements, and social media content, helping members and the broader community stay informed and engaged. Working collaboratively with the pastor and volunteers, the Communications Coordinator maintains a unified voice and visual identity while using a variety of communication platforms to invite participation, celebrate ministry, and share the story of God’s work through the life of the church.

Also receives support from any related oversight teams that may be developed, but reporting relationship remains with pastor as head of staff.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES:
Volunteers, including the Media Team for Sunday worship.

QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Demonstrated experience recruiting and training volunteers.
• Demonstrated organizational communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills, task orientation, and ability to delegate and communicate in a timely manner.
• Presence on Sunday mornings is desired but not required.

• Familiarity with Canva or similar platforms.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

• Manage and develop TUCC social media pages (currently facebook) by:
• Creating images and photo announcements for marketing/PR.
• Schedule posts for upcoming events
• Post photos from events
• Response to messages in church facebook messenger, directing questions/concern when appropriate.
• Manage the TUCC website by updating bi-weekly, on an as-needed basis, in conjunction with eTidings, church email communications and as new information is received.
• Provide feedback and proof & finalize announcement sheet & bulletin.
• Manage bi-weekly or monthly eTidings newsletter (edit text, create images, etc).
• Manage and edit weekly media slides for worship including:
• Announcements and worship participation slides.
• Ensure all AV worship material is correct, clean, and visually appealing.
• Post service to website/embed video. Explore additional options for streaming.
• Manage supplies, inventory, and equipment needed and keep updated on copyright information.
• Submit annual budget requests for inclusion in the church budget process.

WORK HOURS:
10 hours a week on average, with ability to flex hours as needed and approved by the pastor.
Sunday attendance is preferred, but can be negotiated based on applicant.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Annual salary: $9,000 ($17/hr equivalent for expected work hours)

Trinity UCC, an Open and Affirming congregation in Waynesboro, PA seeks a Director of Faith Formation will provide overall leadership for the ministries of faith formation, education and programming of the congregation, including communication with the congregation to provide guidance, ensure resources and plan for formation and fellowship activities for all life stages (children, youth, and adults). Working in partnership with the pastor and congregation, the Director helps foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals and families are nurtured in Christian discipleship and invited to participate in God’s ongoing work in the world. For those who desire it, there is some opportunity for preaching and worship leadership (but this is not a requirement of the position).

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or demonstrated experience in education and/or program administration, preferably within a congregation/faith community environment.

• Ability and willingness to be present on Sunday mornings for worship and for programmatic needs before and after worship (typically 8:30/9:00-12:00/1:00 PM.

• Familiarity, comfort, and adaptability to technology and various programs, applications and devices necessary for communication and budgetary responsibilities.
• Has and maintains all clearances necessary for Safe Church guidelines.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

• Provide general direction, guidance and vision for Faith Formation such as Sunday School, children and youth fellowship, Bible Study, and special programs, at times coordinating with other committees and teams.
• Oversee planning, coordinating and volunteer recruitment for Faith Formation and other seasonal/occasional faith formation opportunities. If desired/needed, create an advisory team to help with the administration of duties for faith formation.
• In coordination with the Pastor, plan & coordinate social/community life events with/for the congregation.
• Create, implement, and administer appropriate policies, procedures and rules to ensure the safety of all persons; to include Safe Church policies and procedures.
• Coordinate nursery volunteers for Sunday mornings.
• Encourage the creativity and development of leadership skills in your team members.
• Chaperone and/or direct youth retreats, confirmation, mission trips, etc. as required. Responsibilities require some week end and out of normal church hour work.
• Communicate with parents, caregivers and congregants about the schedule of events, including utilizing personal communication, church announcements, e-tidings, facebook, etc.
• Manage supplies, inventory, and equipment needed to have a successful faith formation program.
• Submit annual budget requests for inclusion in the church budget process.

WORK HOURS:
20-25 hours a week on average, with ability to flex hours as needed and approved by the pastor. Hours are primarily done in the church setting, but is flexible when negotiated with pastor.
Sunday attendance is required, with Sundays off determined based on years of service (see compensation and benefits) and additional negotiation.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Annual salary: $25,000 ($20-$24/hr equivalent for expected work hours)

Job Summary: The Primary responsibilities of the part-time Director of Children and Youth are to lead and support the church’s ministries with children and youth. The Director of Children and Youth shall seek to build a strong, growing ministry that:
Introduces Youth to Jesus Christ and facilitates/nurtures their growth in the Christian faith.
Strives to build Christ-like relationships with youth, their parents, and church leaders that strengthens their commitment to growth in Jesus Christ; and

Duties and Responsibilities
Serves out of a strong sense of Christian calling with passion to serve youth, and exhibits a strong identity in Christ coupled with the willingness to continue to grow and mature in Christ as a Godly person of integrity.

Works with parents and other leaders to facilitate the spiritual and social development of youth by instructing and training them to become disciple-makers.
Provides students with a safe and spiritually based place to belong that gives them the courage to be unique in their social, emotional, and spiritual character and interests.
Make strong efforts to contact new children, youth, and families, and to re-engage those who have not been attending regularly. This may look like outreach phone calls, attending sports events, or scheduling visits.

Submits an annual basic Ministry Action Plan to the Senior Pastor which outlines a strategic plan to disciple the youth and continue growing the children and youth program (e.g., teaching, small groups, events, and programs).
Provides leadership that is in line with the overall vision, purpose and mission of our church and follows the Senior Pastor’s vision of leadership.
Participates in the preparation and development of the budget for the Children and Youth Ministry and works with the Deacons to provide ongoing financial accountability including timely submission of receipts.
Work hours are flexibly scheduled to allow for interaction with children, youth, and their parents throughout the week and/or weekend. Some office hours may be necessary in order to meet with the Senior Pastor, to participate in staff meetings, and to attend any necessary committee meetings.
Participate in annual performance review.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with specialty or focus on Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Education, Psychology, or similar field.
At least 2 years of experience working in a church or similar nonprofit setting.
