1 Choir Director would be the piano accompanist for the choir; a separate organist will lead the
worship music.

2 Anthem Every Sunday for 10:15 a.m. Worship Service from the Second Sunday in September
through the Sunday before Memorial Day. Also Christmas Eve one service, Ash Wednesday,
Maundy Thursday, and possibly Thanksgiving Eve.

3 Rehearsal Weekly One Hour – preferably Thursday evenings.

UCC at Valley Forge – Preschool/Nursery Aide/Assistant

The United Church of Christ at Valley Forge has an opening for a part-time Preschool/Nursery Aide/Assistant.

The successful candidate for this position will provide a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children during worship services, ministry programs, and specific church events.

The part-time hours will be weekly on Sundays for 2 hours (10 AM to 12 Noon) except Sundays when on-site worship is cancelled (ex: inclement weather.) With advance notice, there may be periodic extended hours either before or after worship (not to exceed 2 additional hours) for special events (not to exceed 6 events per year.)

The hourly rate range is $20-$25/hour (depending upon experience.)

The successful candidate must be at least 18 years old, dependable, with the ability to relate well with children and families and the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Experience with working with young children is preferred.

Job Summary: The Primary responsibilities of the part-time Director of Children and Youth are to lead and support the church’s ministries with children and youth. The Director of Children and Youth shall seek to build a strong, growing ministry that:
Introduces Youth to Jesus Christ and facilitates/nurtures their growth in the Christian faith.
Strives to build Christ-like relationships with youth, their parents, and church leaders that strengthens their commitment to growth in Jesus Christ; and

Duties and Responsibilities
Serves out of a strong sense of Christian calling with passion to serve youth, and exhibits a strong identity in Christ coupled with the willingness to continue to grow and mature in Christ as a Godly person of integrity.
Recruits a team of volunteers to teach children and youth and assist in leading various children and youth events throughout the year including Sunday School (B.L.A.S.T. Kids), Youth Group, Vacation Bible School, Service Trips, Rally Day, and other special events throughout the year.
Serves as Leader of this team.
Coordinates, implements, and further develops a quality spiritual education for Youth, which would include Sunday School (B.L.A.S.T Kids), Youth Group, Vacation Bible School, Service Trips, and other special events throughout the year.
Works with the Senior Pastor to provide children’s sermons at least once a month during worship.
Work under the guidance of the Senior Pastor to co-coordinate Confirmation of Youth with Senior Pastor and Lay Leaders.
Works with parents and other leaders to facilitate the spiritual and social development of youth by instructing and training them to become disciple-makers.
Provides students with a safe and spiritually based place to belong that gives them the courage to be unique in their social, emotional, and spiritual character and interests.
Make strong efforts to contact new children, youth, and families, and to re-engage those who have not been attending regularly. This may look like outreach phone calls, attending sports events, or scheduling visits.

Submits an annual basic Ministry Action Plan to the Senior Pastor which outlines a strategic plan to disciple the youth and continue growing the children and youth program (e.g., teaching, small groups, events, and programs).
Provides leadership that is in line with the overall vision, purpose and mission of our church and follows the Senior Pastor’s vision of leadership.
Participates in the preparation and development of the budget for the Children and Youth Ministry and works with the Deacons to provide ongoing financial accountability including timely submission of receipts.
Work hours are flexibly scheduled to allow for interaction with children, youth, and their parents throughout the week and/or weekend. Some office hours may be necessary in order to meet with the Senior Pastor, to participate in staff meetings, and to attend any necessary committee meetings.
Participate in annual performance review.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with specialty or focus on Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Education, Psychology, or similar field.
At least 2 years of experience working in a church or similar nonprofit setting.
The Ability to maintain confidentiality.
A strong sense of Christian values and beliefs.

Sexton Position Announcement

Position Available Immediately

The Sexton is to ensure the satisfactory appearance of the church building and grounds, giving special attention to general neatness and cleanliness. Reports to the Senior Pastor.

Qualifications

  1. Have a minimum of a high school diploma with experience in performing janitorial duties.
  2. Be able to maintain effective and positive rapport with all staff, deacons, stewards, church disciples, volunteers, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  1. Facility Cleaning and Maintenance
    1. Clean every room in the church building and offices. Cleaning is to include the dusting of all furniture, the removal of all trash, and the mopping, sweeping, or vacuuming of all floor surfaces. Cleaning must be done according to schedule.
    2. Maintain first floor luxury vinyl planking in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
    3. Wet-mop and buff tile floors at least monthly and at other times, if needed. Old wax shall be stripped and new wax applied to all tile surfaces at least annually.
    4. Vacuum all stairways, halls, runners, and sanctuary weekly.
    5. Clean restrooms thoroughly with disinfectant products. An adequate supply of towels, soap, and tissues shall be kept on hand in the restrooms at all times. Trash shall be removed from the restrooms daily.
    6. Clean other surfaces, such as water fountains, windowsills, and front doors regularly.
    7. Work with Facility Steward to manage repairs.
  1. Outdoor Maintenance
    1. Mow and trim grass.
    2. Remove trash and debris.
    3. Maintain shrubbery and beds around the church.
    4. Remove snow from the sidewalks and entrances to the building on a timely basis.
  1. Sunday Morning
    1. Open and close church for Sunday morning worship. This includes, but is not limited to, unlocking and re-locking the church building.
    2. Ensure adequate heat or air conditioning in the sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and classrooms.
  1. Supplies and Equipment Maintenance
    1. Work with supervisor to order all necessary supplies needed for the regular performance of duties. All such materials are to be billed to the church and invoices obtained.
    2. Maintain all equipment used by the Sexton in clean and working order.
  1. Room Setup
    1. Set up tables and arrange furniture for normal class use and special meetings or events.
    2. Maintain proper heating and air conditioning levels for all services, meetings, and events.
    3. Arrange the sanctuary and other rooms as needed for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions.
  1. Facility Security
    1. Lock and unlock all doors of our facilities, and secure the premises at the end of each workday, except when other arrangements have been made.
    2. Maintain vigilance during Sunday morning worship.
    3. Other:  Assume other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor or Council, in consultation with the incumbent.

Terms of Position:  Six-month probationary period is required.

  1. Work 37.5 hours per week (Sunday through Thursday).
  2. Complete weekly timesheets (employee).
  3. Receive salary on the 15th and 30th of each month.
  4. Receive vacation according to the following:
    1. No vacation days during the first 90  days of employment
    2. No vacation days during Holy Week, Christmas week, or other special events
    3. 0-5 years:  two weeks per year
    4. 6-10 years:  three weeks per year
    5. 11-19 years:  four weeks per year
    6. 20 or more years:  five weeks per year
    7.  Receive two personal leave days during 2026.
